In addition to being self-cleaning, superhydrophobic surfaces may increase condensation heat transfer, decrease friction drag and make the substrate anti-corrosion. Not all material surfaces can be directly made superhydrophobic and even when possible, the process may be complicated and expensive (e.g. photolithography, acid etching and anodizing).
